How to install new emoji set on Android

Emojis make conversations more lively because they accurately express our emotions when we talk.

That's why emojis are constantly being updated and you don't want to be out of date, right? There are many ways to add new emojis to your Android phone, create your own emojis or even use the icon set from iOS.

In the article below, Quantrimang will guide you how to update the emoji set on Android devices.

1. Update to the latest Android version

Every new version of Android brings a new set of emoji. Android 11 introduces 117 brand new characters, in addition to over 2,000 redesigned emojis to go along with the new icons.

Not sure if your Android device is up to date? Follow these steps:

  1. In the phone menu, tap Settings, then select About . On some devices, you need to go to Systems . Next, tap on the software version, you will know which version of Android your device is running. If it is not Android 11, continue with the following steps.
  2. Go to Settings again. Select About Phone and check if there is any update available. Next, tap on the update button and select Install . Make sure your device is connected to Wifi or any internet network.
  3. To check if the update was successful, go into any app. When typing, look for the Ninja or Black Android icons, both of which have a new set of emojis that came with the system update.

Of course, not all phones get the full Android update. You can try other ways.

2. Using Emoji Kitchen

Google's keyboard app, Gboard, recently added Emoji Kitchen. This is a feature that allows users to create mashups for stickers. Here's how you can create new emojis using this feature.

  1. Open any messaging app. Next, tap on any conversation.
  2. Tap the text bar to start typing. Next, tap the emoji button (it has a smiley face icon). Select any emoji to activate the Emoji Kitchen feature.
  3. From here, you can see a selection of stickers at the top of the keyboard. Swipe through the stickers and select the one you want to send.

Note that not all messaging apps are compatible with this new Emoji Kitchen feature.

3. Install a new keyboard

Another way to get new emoji sets to use is to install a third-party Android keyboard.

Like emoji keyboards, some of these apps even have a symbol dictionary that lets you check the meaning of each emoji. They also have predictive features and let you send stickers and GIFs to social media sites like Snapchat and Instagram.

Here's how to install a third-party keyboard on your phone:

  1. On your phone menu, select Google Play. In the search bar at the top, type the keyboard app you want to download.
  2. Next, select Install . If the keyboard app isn't compatible with your device, try another option.
  3. Wait until the download is complete.

These apps are great alternatives to Google's Gboard keyboard, and can be installed on any phone. Some device manufacturers, including Samsung, also pre-install their own keyboards, so check them out.

4. Create your own emoji

If you want emojis that reflect your personality, you can create your own. The Google Play Store has dozens of emoji maker apps that you can install on your Android devices.

  4. Next, click on the keyboard in the bottom corner of the home page. Then, enable the settings in the success menu.
  5. You can switch your keyboard to Bitmoji by tapping Settings , selecting manage keyboards and selecting Bitmoji from the pop-up list.
