Qi2 charging is a feature users want to see on more Android phones

Wireless charging has always been slow and unreliable – until  Qi2 came along. With faster speeds and support for magnetic accessories, it's finally becoming practical. However, most Android phones still don't fully support the feature, and it's time for that to change.

Qi2 charging is faster and more efficient

It's surprising that Qi2 charging hasn't been widely adopted yet, even on modern flagship phones, even though it's a useful feature.

If you’re unfamiliar with Qi2, it’s essentially a slightly tweaked version of Apple’s MagSafe feature , allowing for wireless charging at up to 15W. By contrast, standard Qi chargers max out at 7.5W, which is never practical – especially with today’s smartphones sporting batteries over 5000mAh.

But Qi2 doesn't just charge faster. Because it's based on MagSafe, it also supports a range of magnetic accessories, ensuring perfect alignment between the charging pad and the phone's coil, making charging more efficient.

There's one caveat, though. Some phones, like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and OnePlus 13, are labeled "Qi2 Ready," but that just means they support faster wireless charging—not magnetic accessories. To use those accessories, you'll need a compatible case with built-in magnets, unless your phone is explicitly "Qi2 Certified."

Qi2 Accessories Everyone Should Try

There are some great Qi2 accessories that are absolutely essential. A favorite is the Qi2 power bank because they are so convenient.

You don't even need to carry a cable anymore - just attach the power bank to the back of your phone and it will start charging, no cable needed at all. If you need a suggestion, the article would definitely recommend the Anker MagGo.

We recommend using a magnetic car mount as it is much easier to use than using a clip on traditional mount. The Qi2 Multi-Device Charging Pad is also a great option, allowing you to charge your phone, headphones, and watch at the same time.

If you like an aesthetically pleasing desk setup, you can even use your iPhone's StandBy feature on your Android device, and if you travel a lot, the Ugreen 2-in-1 foldable charger is definitely worth considering.

The Qi2 Wallet is another popular accessory, allowing you to store a few cards and even some cash while magnetically attaching to the back of your phone. However, in my experience, they can easily come off when you put your phone in your pocket, so be aware of that.

If your phone doesn't support Qi2, don't worry - you can still use these accessories by attaching a magnetic sticker to the back of your device.
