The Z Flip 5 is a solid alternative to flat phones, especially considering its clamshell design. It's basically just a regular phone that folds in half. If you find the OnePlus Open and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 too bulky, the best alternative is the clamshell folding option. In addition to the Galaxy Z Flip 5, another option worth considering is the Motorola Razr+ 2024 (also known as the Razr 50 Ultra in some regions).

The standout feature of the device is the relatively large 4-inch external display. The large size makes the external display more practical when completing certain tasks without having to fully open it to use the 6.9-inch main display inside. That main display also stands out thanks to its relatively high 165Hz refresh rate.

The phone has two rear camera lenses: a 50MP main wide-angle lens and a 50MP secondary ultra-wide-angle lens. Inside is a single 32MP selfie camera. In terms of resolution, this camera setup puts Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5 to shame. And like Samsung's offering, the Razr+ (2024) has an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

Motorola has used Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, which sits just below the flagship 8 Gen 3 thanks to the slightly inferior Adreno 735 GPU. Unlike Samsung, Motorola is offering 8GB and 12GB RAM options for the Razr+ (2024). It will be available for purchase starting July 24.

While the Pixel Fold will launch with a suggested retail price of $1,799 in 2023, it’s currently available for less on Amazon.
