After ChatGPT, Apple Wants to Integrate Google Gemini into iOS
Apple fans were delighted yesterday as the tech giant announced a slew of improvements across all of its major operating systems. One of the most anticipated was the Apple-Open AI partnership, and that came to fruition yesterday during the “ Apple Intelligence ” demo.
It seems that Apple will not be focusing solely on ChatGPT . As Craig Federighi and John Giannandrea said in an interview yesterday, Apple hopes to bring more AI models like Gemini to iOS 18 so that users can choose between different models.
All the AI Features of Apple Intelligence Coming to iPhone, iPad, and Mac
In an interview with iJustine, Federighi said Google Gemini could launch soon if everything goes according to plan. “We think that ultimately people will have a preference for certain models that they want to use, maybe a model that is good for creative writing or a model that they like for coding. And so we want to allow people to use the model that they choose,” he said.
“We can expect integration with different models like Google Gemini in the future. Nothing to disclose right now, but that’s the direction we’re going,” he added . According to Federighi, Apple wanted to start with the best product available on the market; hence the choice of ChatGPT.
Regardless, we can definitely expect to see integrations with different models like Google Gemini in the future.
This may be a pain for Google, which has been working hard on AI for the past few years. But Apple’s partnership with multiple companies to give users a wide range of choices is very un-Apple-like, and it’s certainly a big plus for consumers, who will soon have a choice between different AI assistants.
All AI features will be available for free on iPhone 15 Pro, MacBook, and M-series iPad later this year. What do you think about Apple bringing ChatGPT to iPhone and Gemini to iOS 18? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
