Apple announces list of best apps and games on App Store in 2024
Similar to other app store platforms, the last month of the year is an opportunity for Apple to reveal the list of applications and games that are rated as the best on the App Store according to many different categories and evaluation criteria. This is also a worthy recognition and honor that Apple gives to the development teams behind the success of quality software products on its platform.
Apple has just officially announced the "best" apps and games of 2024, with categories for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and even Apple Arcade.
This year's App Store Awards continue to evaluate apps and games based on the following criteria: Quality, innovative design, advanced technology and positive cultural impact. The specific list is as follows:
The Best App Store Apps of 2024
Apple’s most popular apps of 2024 are a mix of names you’ve probably never heard of. And in a way, that’s a good thing. It’s an opportunity to discover new and potentially useful apps that you might not have known about before.
- iPhone App of the Year: Kino Pro Video Camera
- iPad App of the Year: Moises: The Musician's App
- Mac App of the Year: Adobe Lightroom
- Apple Watch App of the Year: Lumy Sunlight Tracker
- Apple TV App of the Year: Formula One's F1 TV
- Apple Vision Pro App of the Year: Marvel's What If…?
Of these apps, Lumy is probably the most interesting. It's a sunlight tracking app for photographers, athletes, or anyone who's active outdoors.
Best Games of 2024
Playing games on Apple devices? It's not as strange as you think. In fact, the gaming experience on Apple platforms is getting better and better.
- Mobile Game of the Year: AFK Journey
- iPad Game of the Year: Squad Busters
- Mac Game of the Year: Thank Goodness You're Here!
- Apple Vision Pro Game of the Year: THRASHER: Arcade Odyssey
- Apple Arcade Game of the Year: Balatro+
Interestingly, the winner of the iPhone Game of the Year award is the same as the Android Game of the Year award, which shows that AFK Journey is a really compelling game.
App Store Award winners demonstrate their own drive and vision in delivering truly great apps and games to users throughout the year, and they also inspire creativity and passion in millions of others around the world through their software products.
“ We are thrilled to recognize this impressive group of developers who are harnessing the power of Apple devices and technology to create experiences that enrich people’s lives and have a profound impact on their communities, ” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “ The impressive achievements of this year’s award winners demonstrate the incredible creativity that can be unleashed through apps. ”
