Apple launches new ultra-compact Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chip options, priced from VND 14.99 million
As rumored, Apple today officially announced the new generation of Mac mini, with options for integrating the current top-of-the-line M4 and M4 Pro processors. The new Mac mini measures 5 x 5 inches (12.7 x 12.7cm) and is 5cm thick, a perfect square and half the size of the previous Mac mini. In addition, the product weighs just 0.67kg for the M4 version and 0.73kg for the M4 Pro variant. Thanks to the power efficiency of Apple silicon and the new thermal architecture, Apple has been able to create an extremely powerful system in an incredibly compact size.
The M4-powered Mac mini will feature a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, with 16GB of unified memory (RAM) by default (up to 32GB) and up to 2TB of storage. This seems to be the new RAM standard in the era of Apple Intelligence.
The M4 Pro processor version has up to 14 cores (10 performance cores, 4 efficiency cores) and up to 20 GPU cores. This version has the option of up to 64GB of RAM and up to 8TB of storage.
The new Mac mini also features a 16-core Neural Engine (NPU) for better support of Apple Intelligence. In particular, thanks to the powerful CPU and GPU, hardware-accelerated ray tracing is available for the first time on the Mac mini.
Despite its compact size, Apple still equips its products with a relatively diverse number of connection ports, including 2 USB-C ports on the front, and on the back is a 3.5mm headphone jack, Ethernet port, HDMI, 3 USB-C ports. The Mac mini with M4 comes with three Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the Mac mini with M4 Pro comes with three Thunderbolt 5 ports that support data transfer speeds of up to 120Gb/s, twice as fast as the speed of Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Gigabit Ethernet, capable of supporting up to 10Gb Ethernet speeds, and an HDMI port are also standard on the new Mac mini. While the Mac mini with the M4 chip can support up to two 6K displays and one 5K display, the Mac mini with the M4 Pro can support up to three 6K displays at 60Hz.
The Mac Mini will start at VND14.99 million, with the M4 chip option (10 cores, 10 graphics cores), 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Meanwhile, the highest-end version using the M4 Pro chip (12 cores, 16 graphics cores), 64GB of RAM, 8TB of storage, and a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port will cost up to VND112.5 million.
