When using an iPhone or iPad, there are times when you will experience a freeze or a frozen device that requires a restart. Please refer to the treatment in the article below!
1. How to resolve when the iPhone, iPad screen is frozen (not responding) or just shows black
When the screen freezes or the screen just shows black, you must restart the device to continue using. This boot can be done even when the buttons are unresponsive and do not lose data on your machine.
How to restart the models as follows:
- iPhone and iPad models with Face ID : Press and quickly release the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons, respectively . Then press and hold the Power button until the device reboots (see Apple logo - apple).
- iPhone 8 and up : Press and quickly release the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons respectively . Then press and hold the Side button until you see the apple logo.
- iPhone 7 , iPhone 7 Plus and iPod touch (7th generation) : Press and hold the Top (or Side) button and the Volume Down button at the same time until you see the apple logo.
- iPad's Home button, iPhone 6s or less and iPod touch (6th generation) or less : Press and hold the Home screen and the top (or addition) until you see the logo apples.

2. How to resolve when unable to boot - unable to turn on iPhone, iPad
After following the instructions in part 1, if you still can't start the device, try the following fixes:
- Plug in and charge the device for up to 1 hour . The charging screen will appear immediately after a few minutes of plugging in or may not depend on the status of the device.
- After 1 hour of plugging in, if the charging screen still does not appear or the image display is connected to the source , check the jack, charging cable, charger adapter .
Make sure the plug is not loose and that the cable and charging adapter are not damaged .
3. How to fix when iPhone, iPad hangs at startup
In case your device can power on but hangs during boot, the screen usually displays apple logo or red or blue, try the following fixes:
- Step 1 : Connect your device to the computer. Then open Finder on Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15 and open iTunes on PC and Mac running macOS Mojave 10.14 or higher.
- Step 2 : Find and select your device on the computer. You can find your device in Finder and iTunes windows (see 2 photos below).

- Step 3 : After connecting your computer to the device, do the following:
+ For iPhone, iPad Face ID : Press and release the button quickly turn up the volume , Volume Down . Then press and hold the Top button until the device starts to reboot and goes into recovery mode.
+ IPhone 8+ : Press and release the button quickly turn up the volume , Volume Down . Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the recovery mode screen.
+ IPhone 7, 7 Plus iPhone and iPod touch (7th generation) : Press and hold the top (or addition) and button Volume Down simultaneously. Then continue to hold them until the recovery mode screen appears.
+ IPad home button, 6s or older iPhone and iPod touch (6th generation) or less : Press and hold the Home screen and buttons on the same (or addition) at one time. Then keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.
- Step 4 : At this point, the option to Restore or Update will be displayed on the computer screen. Click Update to reinstall iOS and iPadOS.
Note : The update on this computer is automatic. If the update takes longer than 15 minutes , the device will exit recovery mode and you will need to repeat step 2 and 3 to continue the update.
• You should take the device to a service center or an Apple authorized dealer if you encounter the following machine errors :
- After all the steps in the article, the screen remains black.
- The screen is black but still emits sound and vibrations.
- The screen is still black but the device sounds when it is turned on and connected to the source.
- The screen is on but cannot press.
- Damaged or jammed button prevents you from starting the machine.
The device only displays the apple logo, shows a solid color or is not recognized in iTunes.
