Handling large amounts of dirty clothes and high humidity inside the washing machine are the main causes of bacteria, mold as well as dirty filter. Regularly cleaning the filter helps reduce the risk of spreading pathogens, ensuring health, quality and increasing the life of the washing machine.
Locate and remove the sediment filter from the machine.
Step 1: Turn off the washing machine and do not leave any clothes inside the drum. Then, disconnect the power supply to the machine. Wrap the power cord neatly and place in a dry place.
Step 2: Locate the washing machine's sediment filter. Normally, for front-loading washing machines, the sediment filter will be located on the right corner of the body of the machine. Some washing machines will have a mesh bag sediment filter inside the washing drum. For front-loading washing machines, the sediment filter will be located behind the body of the machine. If you cannot locate the sediment filter, you should read the instruction manual that comes with the machine.
Step 3: Place a rag underneath to prevent any remaining dirty water from leaking out of the drain pipe. Some washing machines have a child-safe lid, so use a small, hard object to pry the lid open.
Step 4: Carefully remove the sediment filter from the machine. If it is too hard, you can gently twist the sediment filter to remove it.
Clean the filter
Step 1: Use a damp cloth or small, soft-bristled brush to remove residue.
Step 2: Remove the filter from the sediment filter, empty the sediment and soak in hot water for about 10 minutes to remove any fibers or sediment that cannot be cleaned with a cloth or brush.
Step 3: Check the filter compartment in the washing machine. Wipe off any remaining dirt with a damp cloth and then put the filter back in place.
Note: You need to check carefully whether the sediment filter is installed correctly by starting a short wash without clothes. If the location of the sediment filter is leaking, you need to reinstall it.
