According to The Financial Times, Facebook wants to make its apps more interactive and entertaining by 2025. To achieve this, the company is looking to use generative AI to create unique experiences. Connor Hayes, VP of Generative AI products at Meta (Facebook’s owner), has a rather unique idea of how to do this:
“Hopefully, over time, these AIs will actually exist on our platform, just like regular accounts do. They'll have bios and profile pictures, they'll be able to create and share AI-powered content on the platform... that's where we see all of this happening."
The VP didn’t go into much detail about how these accounts would work. It’s likely that, at the very least, they would use AI to create posts and chat with people via Facebook’s direct messaging system. But what about sending friend requests to the AI, or perhaps asking them to comment on your posts?
