Gemini Advanced with Gemini 1.5 Pro adds spreadsheet upload and data analysis
Last week, Google upgraded Gemini Advanced with Gemini 1.5 Pro and added document uploading capabilities. Spreadsheet data analysis was also introduced and is now rolling out to Gemini Advanced.
In addition to text documents, paid subscribers can now upload the following types of data files directly from their computer browser or via Google Drive:
Tabular data files: CSV, TSV
Spreadsheet file: XLSX
Spreadsheet created in Google Sheets
Uploading documents via the mobile app is still not supported. Google notes that “up to 10 files can be uploaded at a time, and each file can be up to 100MB in size . ”
Upload options in Gemini Advanced
Once the spreadsheet is uploaded, you can ask Gemini Advanced to create a “presentation-ready chart” with customization (e.g., chart type and labels) and “zoom in to explore .” This feature is initially expected in the coming weeks.
Processing, exploring, analyzing, and visualizing data is an efficient way to save time and uncover insights faster.
This is combined with the ability to upload large text files for summarizing, outlining, and identifying trends. All of this is powered by Gemini 1.5 Pro’s expansive contextual window of 1 million tokens or 1,500 pages. In the future, users will be able to upload an hour of video or a 30,000 line codebase.
