Gemini Live has added a “Talk Live about” feature, and it’s now rolling out more widely to Android devices. Previously, Gemini Live only accepted voice input, but “Talk Live about” has expanded uploads to include:
Image : Upload a photo from Gallery or use Camera and tap “Talk Live about”.
Files : Upload a file or open a PDF in Google Files (or Samsung Notes) and fire up Gemini. Supported file formats for upload include TXT, DOC, DOCX, PDF, RTF, and HWP.
YouTube : Open Gemini or paste the YouTube link into the Gemini app. For any YouTube video up to 2 hours long, you can ask Gemini Live about anything mentioned in the video's subtitles.
The full-screen Gemini Live interface will then open with a preview of the image, file, or video. You can continue to ask questions and get answers with specific context in the content.

In January of this year, the feature was rolled out to the Pixel 9, Galaxy S24, and S25. With the March 2025 update, Google rolled it out to Pixel 6 devices and later. And as of today, we’re seeing these new features on Pixel devices and earlier Samsung devices with the free Gemini plan.
Additionally, Google has widely rolled out more compact Gemini Live icons, removing text labels.
