Nightmare before Christmas is a spectacular animated film , full of magical characters that make you dream. With a gothic setting, this film directed by Tim Burton stars Jack Skellington , the King of the Pumpkins and Sally, a rag doll in love with him, who inspired me for this spectacular Halloween makeup!
"Sally was created by Dr. Finklestein , a mad scientist residing in the land of Halloween, with dry autumn leaves covered with rags sewn together, giving it the shape of a doll ". Her look is really particular and fascinating: the bluish complexion recalls the world of darkness , as well as her glazed look but full of secrets and passions.
Being a rag doll, Sally from Nightmare before Christmas brings back seams on the body , while maintaining a touch of femininity given by the red lipstick on the lips.

PRODUCTS USED AND PROCEDURE
For your Halloween Sally Nightmare before Christmas tutorial I started with a light blue Aquacolor base , applied all over the face, including neck and décolleté. A common cat's tongue foundation brush is enough to apply it, but it is possible to blend it best with a bodypainting sponge . If you do not have a specific product for scenographic make-up, we advise you to get some colors 'for the holidays' , which in this period you can find in all supermarkets and newsstands , or, alternatively, you can use a very light foundation and then dab this base with a very light blue eyeshadow.
For the eye make-up instead we start from the naked eye and after having applied an eyeshadow base we create a base with white Aquacolor , even if of course a common white pencil will be fine. By doing this we are going to make the eyes optically larger by creating a new lash line with the white color. On the mobile eyelid, instead, let's apply a light blue eyeshadow.
We complete the eye make-up by highlighting the crease of the eye with a dark blue eyeshadow and then apply intense false eyelashes both on the upper and lower lash lines , redesigned. If you don't like the idea of applying the false eyelashes at the bottom you can draw them with a kajal or black eyeliner. In the same way, with the help of an eyeliner you can create additional lashes in the outer corner of the eye to create greater intensity and give drama to the look.
As already mentioned, the lip makeup is simple and sensual: we define the outline with a dark red pencil and then we color them with a blood red lipstick that contrasts beautifully with the blue face base, for a thrilling halloween look!
As anticipated Sally is a rag doll and shows eye- catching seams on her face and body . How are they created? It is really simple! Just create thin blue lines on the sides of the mouth, on the forehead, on the neck and on the chest, intersected by small x or inaccurate lines. To give a more realistic and three-dimensional look, let's then play with the chiaroscuro technique: we emphasize the lines with shades of black and white , the effect is guaranteed!
To give Sally an even more 'bleak' and intense look, although she still represents a positive and very romantic character , we do a contouring on the nose and cheekbones with the dark blue eyeshadow previously applied in the crease of the eye.
TIPS PERFECT HALLOWEEN LOOK
To make your Halloween makeup perfect, I leave you a few tips : try wearing colored contact lenses ! In this case you see them white, just because they give a greater sense of small pupil and perfectly suit Sally's look, but depending on your Halloween costume you can indulge yourself! Colored contact lenses can be found in the most stocked opticians and online at quite affordable prices.
Of course, to better complete the Sally Nightmare Before Christmas make-up, if you don't have red hair like mine, you can think of coloring them with a spray color (it can be removed with a shampoo, don't worry!) Or you can get a wig .
Also, as you surely know, Sally's dress is made up of pieces of colored fabric . To create this effect, you can roughly sew fabric from scraps or sheets together and color them with the motifs of her original dress with simple markers.
