Donald Trump is the 45th President of the United States, serving from 2017 to 2021. After finishing second in the 2020 election, he made a strong comeback and won the 2024 presidential election to become the 47th President of the United States, starting in 2025.
Donald Trump is a charismatic president and is especially popular in the online world. He can even be considered a tech leader, as he is the founder of the popular social media platform Truth Social, which has been operating since February 2022. Therefore, it is no surprise that tech CEOs have had different reactions to the return of the White House boss.

Several top industry leaders, including Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, Amazon Executive Chairman Jeff Bezos, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and many other big names in the tech world posted their congratulations and opinions on Mr. Trump's victory on social network X:
Congratulations to President Trump, we look forward to working with you and your administration to further promote innovation, create growth momentum, and open up new opportunities not only for the United States but also for the world.
— Satya Nadella (@satyanadella)
Congratulations President Trump.
I wish you great success in this term.
— Sam Altman (@sama)
In another post, the OpenAI CEO stressed: "It is critically important that the United States maintain its leadership in developing artificial intelligence (AI) with democratic values."
Congratulations to President @realDonaldTrump on his decisive victory. We are in a golden age of innovation in America. Alphabet is committed to working closely with the administration to help deliver benefits for everyone.
— Sundar Pichai (@sundarpichai)
Congratulations to our 45th and now 47th President on an extraordinary comeback and decisive victory. America is on the cusp of an unprecedented moment. May @realDonaldTrump find every success in leading and uniting the America we all love.
— Jeff Bezos (@JeffBezos)
The American people gave @realDonaldTrump a clear mandate to deliver tonight.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk)
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who has reportedly had a rocky relationship with Donald Trump, congratulated the new president on the Threads platform. "We have incredible opportunities ahead of us as a country. Looking forward to working with you and your administration."
Apple CEO Tim Cook also congratulated Mr. Trump, expressing his desire to cooperate with his administration, with the goal of ensuring that America will remain a leading country in innovation and creativity.
Most of the tech leaders’ messages were similar: They congratulated Trump on his return to the White House and looked forward to working with his administration. However, there was also a sense that business leaders were wary of retaliation from the new administration for the somewhat hostile policies it imposed on Donald Trump after his defeat in the 2020 election, especially against some social media platforms.
AI policy is expected to remain a major concern for tech companies in the United States during President Trump’s upcoming term. The Biden administration’s recent executive order on AI has drawn criticism. Notably, Andreessen Horowitz, a prominent venture capital firm, has publicly announced its support for Trump in this election due to the current administration’s AI policies being unfavorable to small AI startups.
It will be interesting to see how Trump and his team will approach current AI policy. With Elon Musk as one of President Trump’s key tech advisers, big changes could be on the horizon in the coming months.
