How to Cure Zombie Villager Minecraft

While exploring Minecraft, you may notice a different type of zombie than the regular zombie. That is the Zombie Villager, which is a hostile mob that will actively attack the user.

They rarely spawn naturally, however if you choose the harder game difficulty then there is a chance you will encounter Zombie Villagers when they are attacked by a zombie and killed.

You can kill Zombie Villagers, but you can heal them instead, which will help you get the Zombie Doctor. Once cured, the villagers will retain their human occupation and their trading items. So when you come across any zombie villagers, you can give them up and trade them for items.

Guide to finding and trapping Zombie Villagers

Zombie Villagers that have been reanimated into humans can be a great source of valuable Minecraft items. So sometimes you have to trap Zombie Villagers to get valuable resources. Here are 4 ways you can trap Zombie Villagers.

How to Cure Zombie Villager Minecraft

  • When naturally appearing: There is a 5% chance that a zombie villager will appear at night, usually accompanied by a group of other regular zombies. Because of the low chance, you may have to be patient and wait for them to appear.
  • Killed: If a normal zombie kills a villager, there is a chance that the attacked villager will turn into a Zombie Villager.
  • Igloo Basement: An icy Igloo Basement will spawn a Zombie Villager, and they won't go away, so this is a guarantee if you see an Igloo appear.
  • Abandoned Village: If you find an abandoned village, you will see Zombie Villagers spawn, but the chance will be quite low (only 2%).

How to Trap a Zombie Villager

Once you find your villager zombie, it is important to trap it safely. Here is what you will need:

  • Enough blocks to build a small area, like a toilet for example, or an area like the one pictured.
  • A door or gate to keep Zombie Villagers inside.
  • Remember to add cover to your construction area, as they will be exposed to the scorching sun, so a cover is needed to keep them out of the sun.

Once you have all of these things ready, push the Zombie Villager towards the entrance of the area you have built by having it follow you. Once you have lured it into the area you have built, close the door to block the Zombie Villager's path.

You also need to note that if there are no players within a 128 block radius, the Zombie Villager will disappear, so make sure there are players near the Zombie Villager for them to survive.

Things you must prepare to save a Zombie Villager

You will need a few items below to heal the Zombie Villager

  • Brewing Stand: Crafted by placing a Fire Stick in the middle square and three Cobblestones below to create a Brewing Stand.
  • Fermented Spider Eyes: You need Spider Eyes + Mushrooms + Sugar to create Fermented Spider Eyes. Place sugar in the middle square, mushrooms on the side, and spider eyes on the bottom to create Fermented Spider Eyes
  • Golden Apples: It is very expensive to craft a Golden Apple, place one in the middle square, and surround it with 9 gold blocks. If you don't have much gold, find them in Mineshafts, dungeons, ruins, and wooden mansions in the forest.
  • 3 Glass Bottles: This is so easy, you just need to place 3 glass blocks, arrange them in a U shape to get a glass bottle.
  • Gunpowder: You can get it by killing Creepers, Ghasts and Witches. Creepers are the easiest way to get Gunpowder, but be careful that you kill them, otherwise you won't get any gunpowder.
  • Fire Demon Powder: Place 1 Fire Rod in the crafting slot and you will receive Fire Demon Powder.
