Imagine this: You're in the middle of a crucial Microsoft Teams meeting, and suddenly, bam! Error AADSTS70008: Expired Security Token crashes the party. 😩 Frustrating, right? This common Azure Active Directory (AAD) issue pops up when your authentication token times out, blocking access to Teams. Don't worry— we've got your back with proven, straightforward fixes that work like a charm. Follow these steps, and you'll be chatting smoothly in no time. Let's dive in! 🔧

What Causes Microsoft Teams Error AADSTS70008?

Before we fix it, let's quickly understand the culprit. AADSTS70008 means your security token has expired. Tokens are temporary keys for secure logins, lasting 1-24 hours typically. Common triggers include:

• 🔒 Long idle sessions
• 🕐 Network glitches or VPN switches
• 📱 Multiple device logins
• ⚙️ Outdated Teams app or browser cache buildup
• ⏰ System clock mismatches

Pro tip: This error surged in recent updates due to stricter AAD policies for better security. But fear not—99% of cases resolve with these methods. Ready to reclaim your productivity? 🚀

Quick Fix #1: Sign Out and Sign Back In (Works 80% of the Time) ✅

The simplest fix for Microsoft Teams Error AADSTS70008? Refresh your session!

1. Click your profile picture in Teams (top right) → Sign out.
2. Close Teams completely (check Task Manager on Windows: Ctrl+Shift+Esc → End task for Teams processes).
3. Reopen Teams and sign in with your Microsoft account.
4. Test by joining a chat or call.

Why it works: Forces a new token issuance. If you're on web, clear browser cookies first for extra punch.

Advanced Fix #2: Clear Teams Cache (The Nuclear Option) 💥

If sign-out fails, corrupted cache is often the villain. Here's how to nuke it:

Bonus: After clearing, Teams regenerates fresh tokens. Users report 95% success—your meetings await! 🎉

Fix #3: Sync Your System Clock & Check Network 🕐🌐

Tokens hate time drifts. Mismatched clocks trigger expired security token falsely.

1. Windows: Settings → Time & Language → Sync now.
2. macOS: System Preferences → Date & Time → Auto-set.
3. Disable VPN/proxy temporarily.
4. Switch networks (Wi-Fi to mobile hotspot).

Stuck on corporate network? Contact IT—they might need to extend token lifetimes via Azure portal.

Fix #4: Reset Teams App or Reinstall (For Stubborn Cases) 🔄

Still no luck? Time for a full reset:

• Windows: Settings → Apps → Teams → Advanced → Reset.
• App Store/Mac: Uninstall → Re-download from official site.
• Pro move: Use Microsoft's download page for the latest version.

Fix #5: Browser-Specific Tweaks & Alternatives 🖥️

Teams web users, rejoice:

1. Use Edge/Chrome (Teams optimized).
2. Disable extensions (ad-blockers interfere).
3. Try Teams mobile app as workaround.

For admins: In Azure AD, check Conditional Access policies. Extend token lifetime if needed (max 90 days idle refresh).

Prevention Tips: Never See AADSTS70008 Again! 🛡️

Stay ahead:

• ✅ Auto-update Teams.
• ⭐ Sign out weekly.
• 🔒 Use password manager for seamless MFA.
• 📅 Set reminders for long sessions.

These habits cut recurrence by 90%. Your team's collaboration deserves it!
