- Scroll down and select Siri & Search .
- Tap on the Listening settings at the top and select the Off option .
- Now wait for a few seconds and select the option “Hey Siri” or “Siri” or “Hey Siri” as per your preference.
- When you do, you'll be prompted to set up Siri from scratch. Tap Continue and repeat each phrase that appears on the screen.
You'll need to repeat 5 phrases to retrain Siri to recognize your voice. After you repeat the last phrase, you'll see the "Siri is ready" screen . Tap Done and continue using Siri as usual.
Reset Siri on Mac
You can reset Siri on your Mac easily. The process is similar to the above, also using the System Settings app in macOS. Here's what to do:
- Click the Apple icon in the menu bar and select System Settings from the drop-down list.
- Scroll down and select Siri & Spotlight from the left sidebar.
- Turn off the Ask Siri setting in the top right and select Turn Off when you see the confirmation window.
- Wait a few seconds and turn Ask Siri back on .
- Now, set the Listen for setting right below to "Siri" or "Hey Siri" .
- You will get a window prompting you to set up Siri from scratch. Click Continue and repeat the five phrases that appear one at a time.
That's it! You've successfully reset Siri on your Mac.
This is one of many troubleshooting steps to take when Siri isn't working on your Apple device. You can use this step as a last resort if adjusting other Siri settings doesn't fix the problem.
Once you reset and retrain Siri to recognize your voice, you should have no trouble summoning Apple's virtual assistant with the "Siri" or "Hey Siri" activation phrase.
