How to See Recent Downloads in Google Chrome

You can access the files you’ve downloaded directly from Chrome or navigate to them through your system. Here’s how:

#1. Check Your Recent Downloads in Chrome

Your recent downloads can be easily accessed directly from your browser:

  1. Open Google Chrome, click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, and select Downloads.
  2. Alternatively, press Ctrl + J (or ⌘ + Shift + J on macOS) to open the Downloads section quickly.
  3. Another option is to enter chrome://downloads/ in the address bar and press Enter.

Your Chrome Download History will appear. Click on a file to access it directly, or select Show in folder to highlight the file in its directory.

#2. Access the Downloads Folder

The files downloaded using Chrome will be saved in a specific location. Here’s how to access the Downloads folder:

Operating System Access Method
Windows PC Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\Your_Username\Downloads.
macOS Access the Downloads folder from the Dock.
Android Open your File Manager app and locate the Downloads folder in Internal Storage.

#3. Search for the Downloaded File

If you know the name of the file, you can search for it:

  1. Windows: Use File Explorer's search feature.
  2. macOS: Click on the Spotlight icon and type in the file name.
  3. Android: Use your file explorer app to conduct a search.
  4. iOS: Access downloaded files through relevant apps, like the Photos app for images or the Music app for audio.

#4. Change the Default Downloads Location

To change the default download location:

  1. Click the three-dot menu in Chrome and select Settings.
  2. Or type chrome://settings/ in the address bar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom, click on Advanced.
  4. Locate the Downloads section, then click the Change button.
  5. Select a new folder and click Select Folder. Optionally, enable the toggle to have Chrome ask where to save each file.

#5. Clear Your Downloads

To clear your download history:

  1. Open Downloads and click on the three-dotted icon, then select Clear all.
  2. To clear a specific entry, click the X button next to it.
  3. You can also clear the Downloads history by selecting that option when clearing your browsing history.

NOTE: Clearing the download history does not delete the actual files, just removes them from the download list.
