How to turn on and off temporary mode on Instagram to automatically delete messages
Temporary mode on Instagram will help us secure messages when all messages will be lost if you leave the chat. This way, you will not expose your private, personal messages when someone else accidentally reads them. All messages will automatically disappear when we exit temporary mode for messages on Instagram. Below are instructions for activating temporary mode for messages on Instagram.
Vanish Mode debuted on Facebook Messenger in 2020, but it has also been added to Instagram's messaging features. The feature allows users to create and join temporary chat threads that are automatically deleted when the chat ends.
Instagram's auto-delete feature is very similar to Snapchat's self-delete feature, but it will only work when you enable it manually, in chats with two people — it doesn't work in group chats.

How does temporary mode work?
Before you start using Instagram's temporary mode, here are some important things to keep in mind:
You can only use ephemeral mode in 1-1 chats - it won't work in group chats. Additionally, you'll only be able to use ephemeral mode with contacts you follow or have recently contacted. If someone takes a screenshot of your message in ephemeral mode, you'll be notified immediately, and vice versa.
Only messages and media you send after you turn on snooze mode will disappear. Other messages you send while snooze mode is off will remain permanently unless you choose to unsubscribe. If you're not sure, here's how to unsubscribe from a direct message on Instagram .
If you accidentally send a message without Vanish Mode turned on, your message will appear just like any other message. Vanish Mode will not automatically hide the message you accidentally sent.
Why use temporary mode?
Incognito mode is perfect for you if you are worried about snoopers spying on your conversations. If security and privacy are important to you, then you should take advantage of this feature.
You can also use Vanish Mode if you want to chat privately with another Instagram user. For example, if you're planning a surprise party for a friend or family member, you can share the details with the other party using Vanish Mode so there's no chance of any information leaking out.
