How to use Google Assistant without unlocking your phone
Google Assistant is proving to be increasingly useful and has become a must-have companion on many people's Android smartphones or tablets. To really get the most out of Google Assistant's hands-free features, you should know how to set it up so that it can work even when your phone is in a locked state.
In fact, some of Google Assistant's features are protected behind the lock screen. Specifically, anything that requires "personal information," such as calendars, contacts, or reminders, will only be shown when you unlock the screen. This is to prevent a situation where someone could access your personal information through Google Assistant even when the device is locked.
However, if you're not concerned about this potential privacy issue, you can absolutely set it up to allow Google Assistant to respond to your requests even when your device is in a locked screen state.
How to use Google Assistant without unlocking your phone
First, open the Google Assistant app on your Android phone or tablet by saying “ Ok, Google ” or swiping up from the bottom left or right corner of the screen.
Next, tap the Snapshot icon in the bottom left corner. Note that the Google Assistant UI may look slightly different depending on the device you're using.
Make sure you're signed in to your Google account. Then, tap your profile icon in the top right to open your assistant's Settings menu .
Now, you will see a long list of Google Assistant features. The one we are looking for is the “ Personalization ” section.
Make sure that the “ Lock Screen Personal Results” option is enabled. Additionally, the “ Personal Results ” option also needs to be enabled to use this feature.
That's all you have to do. From now on, when you ask Google Assistant about calendar events, reminders, shopping lists, or even send hands-free text messages, you won't need to unlock your screen.
