While performing space missions, some astronauts have set impressive records that have earned public admiration and respect.
Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first man to fly into space aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft on April 12, 1961.Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko was launched into the International Space Station (ISS) in September 2023. As of February 4, 2024, the Russian cosmonaut has spent 879 days in space, setting a record for the longest stay in space. If everything goes according to plan and there are no incidents, by the time he completes his current mission, he will have increased his record of living in space to more than 1,110 days.However, the cosmonaut who holds the record for the longest consecutive stay in space belongs to cosmonaut Valeri Polyakov.
