MediaTek is about to release the blockbuster Dimensity 9400
A recent leak from popular tech blogger Digital Chat Station revealed that Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek is preparing to launch its next-generation flagship chipset for 2024 - the Dimensity 9400 - earlier than usual.
MediaTek has traditionally released its flagship processors in the last quarter of the year. However, it is now being reported that the first smartphones equipped with the Dimensity 9400 will hit the market from mid-October. Therefore, users can expect the SoC to launch earlier, even in September. This will also give it a slight competitive advantage over its main rival, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is expected to be announced by Qualcomm on October 21.
The leak from Digital Chat Station also coincides with a previous report that the Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8 series, powered by the Dimensity 9400, could launch before the Xiaomi 15 series running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
While specific details about the Dimensity 9400 are scarce at the moment, previous leaks suggest that MediaTek will likely continue to pursue optimizations in performance and power consumption of the chip with TSMC's second-generation 3nm process.
The most notable upgrade on the Dimensity 9400 will likely be the appearance of the high-performance Cortex-X925 core. MediaTek expects this SoC to be able to provide up to 30% increase in single-core performance compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9300, while power consumption is said to be 30% lower.
It's also rumored that the Dimensity 9400 will have the largest die yet, measuring in at 150mm2 and containing 30 billion transistors, but we'll need to look closely at real-world testing data before we can comment on how the chip will perform.
Additionally, the Dimensity 9400 is also likely to be the first chip to use Samsung's ultra-fast 10.7Gbps LPDDR5x memory, the fastest in the industry. In terms of GPU, the new chip is said to use ARM's BlackHawk CPU architecture and will rely only on high-performance cores to deliver optimal single-core and multi-core performance.
WebTech360 will continue to update detailed information about MediaTek Dimensity 9400 in the near future, please stay tuned.
