Last year, Gemini 2.0 introduced a Deep Research feature that allows AI to perform multi-step research on any topic. ChatGPT then adopted the feature in February this year, and Microsoft will finally bring Deep Research functionality to its Copilot AI.
Microsoft is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a lot of shows, like announcing a bunch of new features coming to Copilot AI. One of the latest additions is Deep Research. Using the content you post, Copilot conducts a more comprehensive and in-depth study of any topic, gathering data from multiple websites, sources, and related images.

Let's say you're working on a project about Conspiracy Theories, you can ask Copilot to discuss what a conspiracy theory is. Within minutes, Copilot will provide you with a detailed document filled with all the information.
While Copilot isn’t the first AI chatbot to implement Deep Research, it’s certainly worth looking forward to seeing this feature in Copilot. Microsoft also mentioned a few other improvements that are coming to Copilot, like the ability to create Podcasts.
