OpenAI Adds Santa to Advanced Voice Mode
As a seasonal holiday bonus, OpenAI has added Santa to ChatGPT’s voice roster. This means anyone can now choose to talk to Santa using ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode.
The option to talk to Santa will be available through the snowflake icon that appears on the right side of the prompt bar. However, even if you only see the regular Advanced Voice Mode icon, you can still select Santa from the list of voices that appear after tapping it.
Even as adults, many people still enjoy talking to the AI Santa. The experience is truly wonderful. There are lots of “ho-ho-ho”s and a booming, cheerful voice that we all recognize as Santa’s.
I asked ChatGPT's version of Santa Claus if he was real, and got a cheerful response talking about the magic of Christmas.
Truly impressive experience, even for adults
Admittedly, ChatGPT's version of Santa Claus is impressive. This Santa answers questions exactly as you would expect.
One small issue is that ChatGPT's terms of use require all users to be at least 13 years old. That means the core demographic of people who like to chat with Santa will be excluded from the chat, unless parents decide to access Santa Mode with their kids.
The Santa voice on ChatGPT will be available worldwide until early January, at which point no one will care about him anyway. However, this opens up the possibility of ChatGPT adding more fictional character voices as occasional rewards throughout the year.
