Many people mistakenly think that any type of fabric can be put in the dryer to dry clothes. However, there are 8 types of fabric that you absolutely should not use the dryer if you do not want to damage the clothes.
1. Silk
This is a thin, light fabric, so it is difficult to preserve them. Silk clothes should only be washed with water around 30-40 degrees Celsius. Silk is the number 1 candidate in the list of fabrics that should not be put in the dryer. Besides, this fabric should not be ironed at too high a temperature to avoid damaging the clothes.
2. Artificial silk
Rayon is one of those fabrics that should not be used in either the washing machine or the dryer because it shrinks so easily. So, wash by hand with a little diluted soap or shampoo, rub the clothes quickly and hang them to dry. This will help the clothes retain their color and last longer.
3. Lace
Lace is quite thin, so if you use a dryer, it will not be as flat and beautiful as it was at first. Therefore, you should wash it by hand to ensure quality and style.
4. Body-hugging clothes
Socks, tights, gym clothes, tight skirts… are all clothes that should not be put in the dryer if you do not want them to stretch. For these types of clothes, after washing, you should let them dry naturally.
5. Swimsuit
Swimsuit manufacturers recommend that all customers hand wash their products and never tumble dry. Swimsuits are very delicate garments, so drying them will stretch them and cause them to lose their color.
6. Wool
Wool may seem thick and sturdy, but it is not. It is a delicate fabric and is easily damaged. So if you put it in the dryer, it will definitely not be the same as before. No matter how lazy you are, you should let it dry naturally if you want your wool items to always keep their shape and beautiful color.
7. Accessory items
Items with lots of rhinestones or metal details should not be put in the dryer. High temperatures over a long period of time will cause these details to deform and damage the garment, or even the dryer.
8. Bra
Bras will stretch and lose their shape when you dry them. Bra underwires are often made of metal, so drying them at high temperatures will cause them to lose their shape.
