WhatsApp is testing new features to enhance the calling experience on the app, including a mute option, the option to turn off the camera before accepting a call, and emoji reactions for video calls.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Beta version 2.25.10.16 for Android brings new improvements to calls. As you can see from the screenshot below, the app will now show a mute option in the notification section while a call is in progress. Currently, the app only shows an end call button and you need to open the app to mute it.
WhatsApp will also bring an option to turn off video before receiving an incoming video call. This way, you can choose to turn off video, in case you can't receive the call.
Last but not least, WhatsApp will also introduce emoji reactions for video conference calls. It will let you react with up to 6 different emojis, making video calls more engaging and fun.
All of these new features are only available to a limited number of beta users right now, but they'll be coming to your device in the coming months.
