In the impression of many people, pigs are animals associated with the image of cute, gentle and silly. Their daily work is only eating and sleeping. However, there is an interesting fact about pigs that not everyone knows: pigs are considered the 'enemy' of snakes, because when these two animals meet, most snakes will become food for pigs.

1. Pigs are born with "armor"
Pig skin is thick and fur is stiff. Meanwhile, the shape of the snake's fangs is curved, making it difficult for it to bite and inject venom into pigs.
Venom needs to react with blood. Under the pig's skin is a layer of thick fat that makes it difficult for the venom to spread quickly into the blood, and at the same time it will be diluted slowly.
In addition, adult domestic pigs have a genetic mutation in their cell receptors that blocks the binding of a-neurotoxin, rendering the venom useless. So if a snake's fangs penetrate a pig's skin, the pig's body will detoxify the venom after a certain period of time.
2. The fighting power of pigs is much higher than that of snakes.
Domestic pigs look harmless, and are usually inactive, but their fighting strength is amazing, even comparable to wild boars.
The pig's sense of smell is very sensitive, it can quickly find the snake. Then attack, bite or trample the snake to death and swallow it into its stomach. Basically, when encountering a pig, the snake has no ability to fight back.

3. Pig manure can repel snakes.
Pig manure contains a large number of pathogenic bacteria. If a snake crawls in pig manure, it is very susceptible to attack by pathogenic bacteria and parasites in pig manure. Therefore, there is usually no appearance of snakes in pig pens.
4. Pigs eat poisonous snakes without getting poisoned?
Pigs can survive if they eat a venomous snake. This is because the digestive enzymes and strong acids in the pig's stomach juices are able to break down the snake venom into non-toxic proteins.
However, if pigs eat poisonous snakes while having wounds in their mouth or digestive tract, they will also be poisoned.
