Given how well A Minecraft Movie did at the box office, a sequel seems like just a matter of when, not if. The Minecraft movie clearly resonated with both longtime fans of the game and new audiences discovering the world of Minecraft.
Minecraft Movie Trailer
The directors of A Minecraft Movie have managed to cover many aspects of the game, from crafting and adventuring to iconic mobs and gameplay mechanics. However, given what the game has to offer, there is still a lot of untapped potential for a sequel to explore. Whether it's new locations, mechanics, characters, or biomes, a sequel to A Minecraft Movie has plenty of room to build something even bigger.
What should a Minecraft Movie sequel be about?
The End
Since the Nether plays such a large role in A Minecraft Movie, the End Dimension seems like an obvious next stop for the sequel. It's home to some of the most mysterious and dangerous elements in the game, with eerie atmospheres, floating terrain, and terrifying structures.
Since the Endermen are inhabitants of The End, they could also play a larger role in the sequel’s story. Whether they’re portrayed as enemies, allies, or something in between, their presence would make the sequel to A Minecraft Movie more interesting and unpredictable. Of course, the Ender Dragon could serve as the big final threat. It would be great to see Steve and his friends fight the Ender Dragon and free the End.
More unique mobs
A Minecraft Movie brought some of the game's most recognizable mobs to life, from Creepers and Skeletons to Ghasts and Iron Golems. However, given the number of unique mobs that exist in the game, there's still plenty of room to expand on those mobs in a sequel.
Mobs like Wither Skeletons, Drowned, Phantoms, Ravagers, etc. can bring new dynamics to the story. Some can pose new threats, while others can open the door to new alliances. Introducing more unique mobs not only adds depth to the world, but also makes for some great fan service.

Boss fights
One of the most exciting parts of Minecraft is preparing and facing powerful bosses. Whether it's the chaotic destruction of the Wither or the truly terrifying presence of the Warden, these battles are an unforgettable part of the game, and they can be just as thrilling on the big screen.
Seeing Steve and his friends fight one of these bosses in action would add a whole new layer of excitement to a sequel. A well-crafted boss battle could elevate the movie's appeal and give fans an incredible action scene, both of which A Minecraft Movie had no shortage of , but both could make for a bigger and badder sequel.
New Biome
While A Minecraft Movie does a great job of capturing the look and feel of Minecraft, it doesn't spend much time showcasing the variety of biomes in the game. Each biome in the game has its own unique characteristics, environments, and items. Not only do the biomes look different, but they also have unique mobs and blocks.
The sequel could really benefit from delving deeper into the different biomes players can find in Minecraft. It would keep the visuals fresh and serve as a way to introduce new adventures for Steve and his crew that are visually different from what was seen in the first film.
The Story Behind Alex
A Minecraft Movie gave fans some surprising, in-depth information when it came to Steve, revealing glimpses into his past and what drove him to become so creative. It would make sense for a sequel to focus on Alex and her backstory, as she's been the only other default skin in the game alongside Steve for nearly a decade.
Exploring who Alex is, where she comes from, and what her goals are can add emotional depth to the story while also helping to balance the attention between the two main characters.
