To use Flipgrid, teachers will first create a Grid for their class. In the Grid, teachers will post discussions for their students, called Topics . Students will perform or respond to Teacher Topics by recording short Response Videos .
Privacy with Flip Code. In the process of using Flipgrid, teachers will teach each class and Topic you create a Flip Code, default is random numbers and letters. This Flip Code generates a URL (e.g. flipgrid.com/flipcode ). Teachers will share Flip Code or URL with their students
During the process of creating the Grid, the teacher will have to choose one of three different types of Grid during setup. Then, share the Flip Code or the teacher's URL with the students. After entering the Flip Code (or clicking on the link the teacher provided), the student will authenticate with their email address or student ID to gain access to the teacher's class.
School Email
If a student has a school email address of Gmail or Microsoft mail, teachers should use this type of Grid School Email to increase the safety and privacy of the classroom. Then, please enter the email domain name (for example, @kynangso.edu.vn ) for teachers and students. Most schools use Microsoft or Google accounts, if you are unsure you can double check your email accounts.
Note: Students and teachers may have different email domains. So teachers can add a variety of email domains to help students easily join the class.
After you share a Grid or Topic with a student, the student will be asked to sign in with an email before entering class.
Student ID
If your students are young and don't have a school email, you should use Grid Student ID. With this category, each student will have a unique ID. The ID can be anything you want – Name, ID #, PIN, Student ID, etc. Teachers can upload the list using Flipgrid's CSV template
When students join the class, they will be asked to enter the identification ID that the teacher provided to enter the class.
PLC and Public
If the teacher's students are high-class students, the teacher can choose this type of Grid. For this type of Grid, teachers should turn on the password to the class and the video censorship feature to increase the security and safety of the classroom.
Anyone with the Flip Code and Grid passwords can join the class. To record a video, students will sign in with any Microsoft or Google email address (school or personal will do).
Once your teacher's Grid is set up, let's get started with a theme for your class.
Above are short sharings about the types of layers (Grid) in Flipgrid, helping teachers better understand each type of Grid and avoid confusion in choosing which type is right for their class.
