Apple Discontinues iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 13

With the launch of the iPhone 16 series this year, namely the new iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple has discontinued some of its older iPhone models. Specifically, the Apple company will discontinue the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max along with the iPhone 13.

The older iPhone models mentioned above will be replaced by the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. As for older iPhones, the iPhone SE remains Apple's most affordable device, and the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models are also getting discounts as they replace the discontinued iPhone 13.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models will also be discounted compared to the equivalent iPhone 16 models.

While the iPhone 13, 15 Pro, and Pro Max models will be discontinued by Apple, they may still appear in refurbished stores while supplies last, along with third-party retailers that will also have some stock available until they sell out.

Can you still buy an older iPhone?

Just because Apple is discontinuing an iPhone doesn't mean you can't buy it anymore. Apple produces about 500,000 iPhones a day at its factory, and those iPhones are shipped all over the world.

Apple Discontinues iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 13

Among the iPhones sold, there are also many iPhones that are returned to the seller. Most of them are due to the following reasons:

  • User Returned Devices: Used or defective iPhones are often returned to Apple by users under warranty. These devices are thoroughly inspected, repaired or replaced with necessary components, and then resold as refurbished iPhones.
  • Trade-in items: Apple has a trade-in program where users send in their old iPhone models when purchasing a new device. These devices are also refurbished and resold.
  • Display: Some iPhones used for in-store display or testing purposes may be sold as refurbished after they are no longer used for promotional purposes.
  • Certified Refurbished: Apple offers refurbished devices that have been tested to rigorous standards, including full hardware testing and replacement of defective parts. These products often come with a new warranty and are sometimes sold at a lower price.

Since the 1-for-1 warranty policy is no longer applied by Apple to its products. Apple has applied a new policy that allows users to repair product damage. This policy is limited to 1 year from the date of purchase or warranty extension.

Refurbished devices are thoroughly repaired, tested, and then resold to the refurbished market, but will cost about 40% less than the cost when new.
