Customize the new tab page on Google Chrome

Setting up and changing new tab pages on Google Chrome will help you work more efficiently. Here's how to customize the new tab page on Google Chrome.

Change the new tab page with built-in tools in Chrome

Chrome provides users with many ways to basically personalize the image of the new tab interface instantly by providing a background setting menu. This setting will appear every time a user opens a new tab in Chrome. Even, this browser also has a rich repository of wallpapers for users to freely choose.

To make this change, users only need to open a new, blank tab. On this new tab, click on the gear icon in the lower right corner to open the wallpaper selection menu. Here, you can choose the package provided by Google Chrome or choose an image from your computer.

Change the new tab page with a Chrome extension

If the built-in options in Chrome are only capable of changing the background image for a new tab, extensions can completely change the way the new tab works, such as adding features. In the Chrome Web Store, you can find new extension tabs that can do everything from removing website shortcuts to creating wallpapers, adding performance tools like calendars and to-do lists.

Note: You should not install more than one new extension tab at a time because this may affect functionality or other errors.

  • Step 1: In the browser, go to the Chrome Web Store.
  • Step 2: Type " new tab " in the search bar and press Enter .

  • Step 3: Select Extensions in the left corner.

  • Step 4: Select the new extension tab you want and select Add to Chrome .
  • Step 5: After installing and activating the extension, the new tab layout of the extension will be uploaded instead of the original Chrome design.

It's done!

How to uninstall the new extension tab

  • Step 1: Right-click the extension icon to the right of the address bar.
  • Step 2: Select Remove from Chrome .
  • Step 3: Select Remove .
  • Step 4: Your new tab pages will immediately return to the new tab page, save the new Chrome tab page, allow users to install a new extension or use the Chrome menu to customize it.
