You can sync 1Password with Dropbox so you can access all data on Macs, Windows computers, iOS and Android devices quickly and conveniently. The following article will guide you how to synchronize 1Password with Dropbox.

Before synchronizing 1Password with Dropbox, you will need a Dropbox account . You also need to install the Dropbox app on any Mac and Windows computer you want to sync.

Note:

  • Dropbox has versions for Mac, iOS, Android and Windows.
  • Dropbox can sync with multiple archives. (On Dropbox for Android, you can only synchronize with an archive).
  • Dropbox requires version 1Password 4 or higher.

Set up 1Password to synchronize with Dropbox

Follow these steps to sync with Dropbox on each of your devices. Sync with Dropbox on Mac and Windows before setting up on iOS and Android devices

1. On a computer running Windows

  • 1Password 6

For 1Password 6 version on Windows, you can move existing 1Password data to a 1Password account.

  • 1Password 4

Please make sure you are logged in to the same Dropbox account. Then open 1Password, select File> Open 1Password Vault and choose .opvault or .aglekeychain in your Dropbox account. Later:

  • You launch and unlock 1Password.
  • Click Preferences> General .
  • Click on Move to Dropbox .

2. On the Mac

If you launch 1Password for the first time, select Find your data and select Dropbox from the list (if Dropbox is not displayed, select Pick a different location ), then follow the instructions on the screen. If you already have 1Password set up:

  • Launch and unlock 1Password.
  • From the 1Password menu, select Preferences.
  • Click on the Sync icon and then select Dropbox.

  • You click on the select button to search the Dropbox folder.
  • Select your Dropbox folder and click on Open.

To sync with Dropbox on another Mac, you need to make sure you're logged in with the same Dropbox account and follow the same steps above.

3. On iOS devices

If you open 1Password for the first time, select the option to sync with Dropbox and follow the onscreen instructions. If you already have 1Password set up:

  • Launch and unlock 1Password.
  • Tap Settings> Sync> Primary , and then touch Start Syncing.
  • Click Sync with Dropbox . Then log in to Dropbox or tap Allow to to allow 1Password to connect to your Dropbox account.
  • Touch the name of an archive you want to sync. If no archive is listed, tap Create File to sync your first archive with Dropbox.
  • Enter the password for the archive and touch Unlock.

To sync with other additional archives in Dropbox, do the following:

  • You launch and unlock 1Password.
  • Touch Settings> Vault> Sync Additional Vault.
  • Tap Sync with Dropbox . Then log in to Dropbox or tap Allow to to allow 1Password to connect to your Dropbox account.
  • Click on your Dropbox account name. 1Password will display a list of archives to connect to your Dropbox account.
  • Touch the name of an archive to synchronize with it.
  • Enter the password for the repository, then select Unlock.

To sync Dropbox on other iOS devices, you need to make sure you sign in to the same Dropbox account and follow the same steps as above.

4. On Android devices

If you open 1Password for the first time, select the option to sync with Dropbox and follow the onscreen instructions. If you already have 1Password set up:

  • Launch and unlock 1Password.
  • Touch Settings> Sync .
  • Turn on Sync , then touch Dropbox.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to select an archive and complete the Dropbox setup.

To sync Dropbox on other Android devices, you need to make sure you sign in to the same Dropbox account and follow the same steps as above.

To change your synchronization settings in 1Password for Android, go to Settings> Sync . You will find many settings and options here:

  • Sync automatically - Automatic synchronization : 1Password will automatically sync with Dropbox when you unlock the application, edit an item or create a new item. You can also manually sync by dragging the list of items to refresh it.
  • Sync using cellular data - Synchronize using mobile data : 1Password will synchronize your mobile data usage, in case you cannot connect to Wi-Fi.
  • Notification - Notification : Android will display a system message each time 1Password finishes syncing with Dropbox.

When you first set up Dropbox in 1Password on iOS or Android, you will be asked to grant 1Password access to all files and folders in your Dropbox account. This is necessary because the repository can be located anywhere in your Dropbox account while 1Password only looks or touches your 1Password data.
