Set up UniKey to always run with Admin privileges

There is a trick to save time and UniKey Vietnamese typing software always works effectively, that is we set up this Vietnamese percussion always run by Admin.

In many cases (for users of Windows 10 operating system ) UniKey has an error when used on some applications and requires admin rights to be able to use. To avoid these problems, it is best to install Unikey to always run as Administrator.

UniKey automatically runs with admin rights

This operation can simply understand that we will create a series of actions for the computer and towards the end is to run Unikey with the highest rights without manual intervention.

Step 1 : You start the Vietnamese typing program Unikey on your computer, click on Expand .

Step 2 : Uncheck the Startup with Windows , then turn off Unikey completely.

Step 3 : On the desktop, enter the keyword " Task Scheduler " in the search bar or click the Start icon in the lower left corner of the screen and enter this keyword and select the results shown below. .

Step 4 : Task Scheduler window appears, observe and left click on Create Basic Task ... to create a new one.

Step 5 : Enter a name ( Name ) and content ( Description ) for the first item, then select Next .

Step 6 : At Trigger , tick When I log on - When I log in. Then Next .

Step 7 : Tick continue to Start a program - Run the program and then Next .

Step 8 : Click Browse ... to find the location of the software to run (UniKey).

Navigate to the location where the software is installed on your computer, click on the UniKeyNT file as shown below, then Open .

Then continue to Next .

Step 9: Our entire setup is completed, click Finish to complete.

Step 10: Go back to the main interface of Task Scheduler, we need to make some more customizations, by:

• Find the name of the program we just created (in step 5)
• Right-click on it / Properties

Step 11 : In the General tab , tick Run with highest privileges .

Step 12: Switch to the Triggers tab , click on Edit ...

Tick Delay task for and select a time of 30 seconds . If you forget this operation, UniKey will still be started as usual, we can still type Vietnamese but will not find the icon of this software in the corner of the screen as usual.

Step 13 : Finally, OK to finish. Or if you are using and setting this right for Unikey on a laptop, you can uncheck the Start the task only if the computer is on AC power , then OK to finish.

That's all there is to do so you can set admin rights for unikey to run itself. If you don't want to, you can force Unikey to run with this permission by:

• Right-click on the software icon
• Select Properties
• A new window appears, select Shorcut / Advanced
• Tick Run as administrator
• OK, got it

In fact, older versions of UniKey such as UniKey 4.3 RC2 or UniKey 4.2 and earlier have encountered errors when users tried to type accented Vietnamese on Chrome browser or in Excel. However, at the latest version, this error has been completely fixed.
