A mental crisis can cause a stroke
Crises resulting from loss of a loved one, separation , divorce or emotional shock are moments of emotional crisis that can cause stroke and death.
Research shows that a mental crisis can cause a stroke
British researchers have recorded many cases of stress, mental crisis leading to heart attack, stroke. The cause is the loss of a loved one, separation, divorce or emotional shock.
The term "takotsubo cardiomyopathy" is a condition that occurs when the heart muscle contracts, causing the left heart valve to change shape. This symptom was first detected in Japan in 1990. This term combines the word "squid" - in "the vase", meaning the shape of the heart is deformed.
Doctors have assumed this heart damage is temporary and reversible. But researchers at the University of Aberdeen have just discovered, this prolonged condition can weaken the heart, possibly cause a stroke.
They presented the results of this study at the American Heart Association in California on November 11.
Researchers followed 37 patients for 2 years
The researchers monitored 37 patients for 2 years takotsubo, mammograms, ultrasound periodically their heart. As a result, the heart is damaged after the takotsubo symptoms have passed. Many patients feel quickly tired or unable to exercise. Women have a higher risk of getting takotsubo than men.
Professor Dana Dawson, a researcher at the University of Aberdeen, said, "The effect from takotsubo weakens the heart and has a lasting effect on those who have it."
There is currently no long-term cure, because before that, it was thought that people with takotsubo could recover naturally over time.
"Takotsubo should have the same critical assessment as a heart stroke or any other serious heart condition. The patient needs to be treated gradually for long-term effects."
However, Takotsubo syndrome occurs only in some people. This is being studied more by scientists.
