Why is it necessary to save contacts in chat groups on WhatsApp?
When you save your WhatsApp group contacts somewhere other than your phone, you can contact them even when you're offline.
Being able to contact members of online chat groups is useful in many cases, especially when your WhatsApp is hacked or your phone is stolen. At this point, you can send a message to all group members and let them know you've lost access to WhatsApp.
How to copy WhatsApp group contacts using Inspect Element
It may sound academic but don't worry, this way to copy contacts from WhatsApp is very easy. You can use any web browser as long as it allows checking web elements.
To get the phone number on a WhatsApp group using Inspect Element via Google Chrome, first you need to go to WhatsApp Web on your computer.
You can then select the group you want to copy contacts from. Look at the top of the group page (under the group name), where you will see a few phone numbers or contacts listed horizontally.
Click a contact, then select Inspect . You will see the numbers highlighted in the Elements menu , right-click on them and you will see a list of options. Click Copy > Copy element from the next selection group.
After copying the numbers, you can paste them into the spreadsheet.
To extract phone numbers from WhatsApp groups via Firefox, the process is a little different from Chrome.
Instructions for copying phone numbers in WhatsApp groups on Firefox:
- Log in to WhatsApp web on Firefox.
- Select the group you want to copy contacts from.
- Right-click on the contacts listed at the top of the group. Select Inspect(Q) .
- Right-click on the highlighted text in the Inspect panel. Select Copy > Inner HTML .
- Paste the copied contacts into an Excel spreadsheet.
Sort phone numbers into each cell in Excel
After copying the phone numbers in the WhatsApp group into Excel, you will see that they are not in separate cells. Separating them makes it easier to copy & paste each number as needed.
To separate numbers into each cell in Excel, first you need to select the column containing the phone number. From the Excel ribbon , click Data . Then, select Text to Columns .
Tick Delimited > Next .
In the next window, uncheck the Tab option . Then, check the Comma box .
Once you have completed the above steps, click Next . Next, select Finish . Now each phone number is in its own cell in a row. Select that entire row and copy it by pressing Ctrl + C .
At this point, you can open a new spreadsheet or right-click on any cell in the opened table. In every option, you need Paste Special... > Other Paste Options > Paste Special.…
After clicking the paste option, click the Transpose box > touch OK . You will now see the contact numbers in individual cells in a column.
Note: If the phone number is already in your contacts, you'll see the name saved for them.
