Do you think sex is needed to get pregnant? Yes, there is sex (a lot and a lot of sex). But there are also many other factors to be successful. Here is a collection of tips and quick conception tips!
Step 1 - Speed up
Guide to love my mother looking forward to you
DAY 1
Download the Glow app (free on iOS and Android phones)
Start tracking your cycle. Enter the symptoms you have. The first day of the cycle is day 1 or CD1.
Start taking prenatal vitamins.
Make an appointment with your obstetrician to check on your prenatal health. Take all medications you are currently taking with your doctor to see if they are safe trying to conceive. Your doctor may also give you a prescription for prenatal vitamins at this appointment!
Limit your intake of coffee and / or caffeinated soda every day.
Don't smoke (This applies to your partner as well).
Exercise in moderation (so keep doing whatever you're doing - no need to speed up).
27TH
Track your menstrual cycle length and level. If it lasts too long (7+ days) or too short (2 days or less), you need to let your doctor know. If your cycle is too heavy or very light, if it could hurt your stomach, or if you have unexplained diarrhea, talk to your doctor.
You can buy lubricants that aid in fertility. Stop using lubricants before.
Enjoy sex with your partner every "meet", or even every day if you feel like it! Your position does not matter. You don't have to stay in place after that, but you can if you want to.
Live healthy. Go for a walk. Do things you enjoy.
Buy lots of pregnancy test strips.
Step 2 - Learn about cervical mucus
Instructions for conception
During your second month, it's time to learn about cervical (CM) mucus. It doesn't sound right, but cervical mucus is an important part of understanding your own fertility.
Your body produces different amounts of fluids depending on the time in your cycle. If you can determine which fluids are most beneficial for conception, then you'll know exactly when it's best to have sex.
The entire tutorial is written about CM testing, but important steps to remember are:
Before having sex, put a clean finger in your vagina. Pull out and check the residue left on your finger under the light.
If it feels slippery, runny, and stretchy and looks clear, now is the right time! If it's lumpy, white or sticky, then you are welcome to have sex, but chances are you don't have optimal fertility.
Basal Body Temperature (BBT) chart helps you understand the mechanisms of your fertile cycle. After ovulation, your BBT will spike. This spike in temperature will help you confirm the timing of your body rhythm.
Your BBT chart is very simple:
Buy a BBT thermometer from your drug store. Make sure it has 2 digits after the decimal place.
Take your temperature every morning before you get out of bed.
Record it in the Glow app.
If you're lucky, you'll see an increase in BBT that comes with ovulation. It should look like this in your Glow chart:

If you don't see a spike for more than 2 consecutive cycles, tell this to your doctor.
Step 4 - Purchase an Ovulation Prediction Kit
Ovulation prediction kits (OPKs) can be quite expensive, but they are also extremely useful in accurately determining the date of ovulation.
Start taking OPK as soon as your period ends, and use it every day until results are positive. Check to see if your positive OPK matches your spike in BBT and conception CM.
If these three are aligned, this is a very good sign! If they don't, stay tuned for the next few cycles. Is your CM not suitable for OPK? Don't see your BBT spike as OPK is predicting ovulation?
Following up on this information will help you better understand your body. It also helps if you have your own obstetrician.
Steps 5 to 11 - Combine all of the above
At the beginning of your fifth cycle, you should monitor your BBT, CM and have a urine test on a pregnancy test. You should continue to do all of this until Cycle 11.
Admittedly, from cycle 5 onwards, you're pretty stressed out. At this point, you feel a bit overwhelmed and panicked and start to wonder if something is wrong. According to ASRM, 80% of couples get pregnant within a year of trying and 90% after 2 years of trying.
Step 6 or 12
On the first day of your twelfth cycle, (or your sixth cycle if you are over 35) call your fertility specialist to make an appointment for the first few days of your next cycle.
Once your appointment is scheduled, go ahead and enjoy a cycle of carefree fun with your partner. No BBT, no CM track, no OPKS - just some good old style sex, knowing that you'll get more help than you need from this point.
