Is it a normal phenomenon for babies to start sleeping? When I startled, what will I look like? How to overcome and help children sleep better?
What will the startled baby look like?
If your newborn baby is startled to sleep from the noise, sudden movement or feels like a fall, your baby may be reacting in a specific way for some reason. At that time, the child may suddenly open his arms and legs wide, arching his back like a natural instinct. Babies can also cry or not cry when startled.
I perform these actions in response to being startled by the impact of environmental factors. This is completely common in infants.
Sometimes it is not a big deal for babies to startle when they sleep less than usual, parents should not deliberately startle babies to sleep to check if they are okay. However, if your baby is not startled at all, it could be a sign of brain, spinal cord problems, or even both. Because the reflex is a symbolic sign of a large nervous system in the body. At this point, parents should inform and consult their doctor.
Types of infant reflexes when startled to sleep
Babies often startled when sleeping to find awake
If the mother gently touches the baby's cheek, the baby will turn his face and open his mouth slightly towards the mother's hand or breast. Infants do this instinctively in search of food.
Suck
Your baby will automatically begin to suck if something touches the palate. Babies often startle to sleep and do this instinctively to be nurtured. But even though the baby knows how to suckle naturally, it can take some practice for the mother to turn it into a skill.
If you have trouble breastfeeding , don't be discouraged. Instead, seek professional help.
Step
If you hold your baby upright and let his or her feet touch a flat surface, he'll lift one leg up and then the other leg up. Babies are often startled to sleep like that they are trying to perform the steps. This reflex helps infants develop walking skills that they will likely begin working on around 1 year of age.
Babies often startle when sleeping with reflexes
Your baby will close his fingers around something that has been put in his hand, like his finger or a toy. This reflex helps infants develop the skill of deliberately holding objects as they grow up.
These sleep-startling reflexes are a normal part of development.
How long does this sleep startle usually last?
From birth, babies will automatically have these reflexes and disappear by the time the baby turns six months old. As your baby's muscles develop, he or she will be able to balance better.
Ways to help your baby sleep
Wrap your baby in a towel
Children will feel safe and protected when they sleep in a towel. Reflective actions that startle your baby to sleep will decrease.
Spread the linen on top of a table or bed so it is square.
Place your baby on his back on the top of the sheet.
Make sure baby's arms are on both sides of the body and comfortable. No need to push the baby straight. Remember, the arm will help your baby feel safe, so don't be too rigid.
Arrange one corner of the towel down, over the baby's shoulder and stomach. Slide this corner under your baby's bottom to hold it tight. There is no need to stretch the sheet but try to keep it tight and comfortable enough for your baby.
On the opposite side do the same and then insert the corner under the other towel.
Cover the bottom of the sheet up to the baby's shoulders, folding backwards.
Babies should only be wrapped in a towel while sleeping on their back while sleeping. Make sure not to cover the baby's head or face. Check regularly to make sure your child is not hot or comfortable as not all children like to be wrapped in a towel.
Child's sleep while sleeping
Parents can both increase their connection with their baby and help them feel secure if they hold their baby on their lap while they sleep.
Give your child a safe sleep
To minimize all possible risks to your baby during sleep, mothers should note the following:
Put your baby on his back to sleep.
Put your baby to sleep on a stable surface.
Baby's sleeping area must be well ventilated, without blankets, bed sheets, toys, mattresses and sleep locators.
The right temperature, neither too hot nor too cold in the baby sleeping area.
Sleep is very important for children in the first years of life. Therefore, the mother should try to create all the conditions for the baby to sleep. And it is during these times that I also have free time to rest or do my own thing.
