Predicting fetal sex through heart rate is very common with grandparents, parents and mothers whispering from each other. In fact, is this a "treasure" to know whether the fetus is a boy or a girl when the doctor has not been told to parents?
When is the heart pregnant?
The fetal heart starts to form quite clearly and beats about 22 days after conception. During this stage of development, the fetal heart develops from a simple tube shape that then twists and divides. Eventually will form a heart with four chambers and heart valves.
In fact, by week 5, the fetal heart starts to beat naturally and at a rate like the mother's, around 80-85 beats / min. From 6-8 weeks, fetal heart rate will increase to 150-170 beats per minute, 2 times faster than mother's heart rate.
The heart rate will quickly stabilize until 9 weeks, with a peak ranging from 170 to 200 beats per minute. It will then start to slow down to an average of around 120 and 160.
Can fetal sex be predicted through heart rate?
The answer is not. Heart rate cannot provide an answer determining the sex of the fetus.
There are many folk counsel passed down by grandparents, parents, even siblings. And one of them is being able to tell whether a baby is a boy or a girl based on the heart rate during the first trimester. If the heart rate is above 140 bpm, it's a baby girl. Under 140 bpm, it's a boy.
In fact, your baby's heart will probably start beating around 6 weeks of pregnancy . The beats per minute begin to slow around 90 to 110 bpm and gradually increase each day. They continue to increase until they reach their peak around 9 weeks, from 170 to 200 bpm for both boys and girls.
Therefore, it is impossible to say that the sex is known only by listening to the fetal heartbeat.
Many mothers still prefer to rely on fetal heart rate to guess the sex of the baby in the womb
So what about a girl's fetal heart rate higher than a boy's fetal heart rate?
We will find out the answer to this question through 2 studies that have been done.
In a study published by "Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy", researchers examined 966 ultrasound results from pregnant women under 14 weeks of age. They did the ultrasound again in the second trimester, when the fetus was between 18 and 24 weeks old.
At this point, the baby's sex is determined by ultrasound that can identify the sex of the fetus early. Up to this point, only 477 pregnant mothers still met the research standards. Of these 477 women, 244 were revealed to have a baby girl, and the other 233 mothers had a boy.
The intrauterine boy's heart rate for the first trimester was 154.9 bpm (fluctuating around 22.8 bpm) and the infant girl's heart rate in the womb was 151.7 bpm (fluctuating around 22.7 bpm).
Another study in 2016 also followed the ultrasound results of 655 pregnant women. Thereby, the research team examined the fetal heart rate of 332 girls and 323 male babies in the first 3 months. Results also showed that there was no significant difference between boys and girls heart rate.
Therefore, again, there is no scientific basis to confirm that girls heart rate is faster than boys. And based on the fetal heart can determine the sex of the baby.

How to guess the sex of the fetus?
From the 20th week of pregnancy, the doctor can perform an ultrasound to determine the sex of the fetus. Your doctor will look at your baby's genitals during the ultrasound. Thereby, you can see the signs of pregnancy with a daughter or a son. This is usually correct, but there are exceptions. Because many factors can obscure the baby's image during an ultrasound.
In addition, methods such as ch ọc amniotic fluid, prenatal testing, non-invasive, .. can determine the sex of the baby. But doctors only prescribe these methods when necessary and related to the baby's health.
Mother can predict the sex of fetus through heart rate as a little joy during pregnancy . But absolutely not to believe in this self-planning to not be happy or sad. To know the exact gender, you should go to the hospital for exact instructions.
