How to backup and restore deleted Zalo messages on Android

Zalo allows users to backup messages, helping to protect your data, chat content, and even pictures sent and received. You can even set Zalo to automatically back up messages for seamless recovery whenever needed.

Why Backup and Restore Zalo Messages?

The feature to backup and restore messages is extremely useful if you transfer your phone, reinstall your device, or want to retain all your messages. This functionality is supported on both Android and iOS platforms.

Steps to Backup and Restore Zalo Messages for Android

Step Description
Step 1: At the main Zalo interface, click the Menu icon at the bottom right corner. Then tap the gear icon in the top right corner to access Settings, and select Backup and restore messages.

Step 2: Here, the date of the last backup is displayed along with the device used and total storage capacity. Click Backup to overwrite the old backup. Confirm by taping Confirm. You will receive a success message with an option to backup photos to Google Drive.

Step 3: To backup photos, click Google Drive Account in the Backup photos section. Select an existing account or add a new one and click OK. Enable automatic backups by toggling Auto Backup to the right, then choose your backup frequency like daily, weekly, or monthly, and select the preferred network connection (WiFi or 3G).

Step 4: To restore messages from the latest backup, click Restore messages and then on Recover messages. Wait for the recovery process to finalize. Afterward, restart Zalo by clicking Continue to finalize updates.

Note: Restoring messages is only possible for those that have been backed up. Messages that were never backed up cannot be retrieved.
