Once you are satisfied with the Windows 11 upgrade, you can delete old and no longer needed files to reclaim valuable space as follows:
- Press Win + I to open Settings .
- In the System tab , scroll down and click Storage . The system will conduct a quick scan and display file categories that are taking up space on the drive.
- Click Temporary files . It contains download files, temporary installations and other junk files.
- Select Previous Windows installations and Windows Update cleanup .
- Next, uncheck Downloads and other files. Some apps may need certain files, so uncheck those files.
- Verify selection and click Remove files . Windows will delete all Windows backup files, freeing up a few GB for you.
