10 Samsung Galaxy Features All Android Phones Should Learn
If you've been using a Samsung phone for a few years now, you'll find the great features the Galaxy line offers hard to beat.
Too many screenshots can clutter your photo library, take up storage space, and can even pose a security risk if you've taken screenshots of any sensitive data. On Samsung, you can quickly delete unwanted screenshots to avoid this.
How to automatically delete screenshots after sharing
Many times, we take one-time screenshots to share with others without any intention of keeping them. But often, these screenshots remain unattended and tend to pile up in the photo library.
Not only does this waste storage space on your phone, it also creates unnecessary clutter and makes it difficult to find the screenshot you actually want to review.
Luckily, you can set your Samsung phone to automatically delete screenshots you share from the toolbar. To enable this feature, go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recordings and turn on Delete after sharing .
And you're done! Go ahead and take a screenshot to try out the feature. Make sure to tap the Share icon on the toolbar.
How to add delete button to screenshot toolbar
You can also add a dedicated delete button to the screenshot toolbar so you can instantly delete an incorrect screenshot without having to go into your photo library.
To do this, however, you'll need the Nice Shot module from Samsung's Good Lock customization app, which you can download from the Galaxy Store if you don't already have.
Once downloaded, open the app, navigate to the Life up tab and install the Nice Shot module . In the module, turn on the Add delete button toggle .
Try taking a screenshot now; a new trash can icon will appear on the toolbar. Click it and the screenshot will be deleted instantly without any annoying pop-ups asking for confirmation.
If the toolbar disappears before you can tap the trash icon, you'll have to delete the screenshot from the gallery or notification panel where it will ask you to confirm, which is a bit slower.
Many people's libraries have 80% of screenshots that they forget to delete. Deleting them one by one is annoying and time-consuming. So hopefully this tip will help you delete them quickly.
Use MacroDroid to delete screenshots manually
Many people's jobs require them to take a lot of screenshots, which leads to a huge accumulation of screenshots. Luckily, they've found a way to use MacroDroid to easily clean up screenshots when they're no longer needed.
If you need to delete screenshots from your phone's photo library whenever you want, it's best to set up a macro that can be run manually. To do this, you'll need to create a macro and add it to your phone's home screen.
First, download MacroDroid on your Android phone and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup.
Once installed, open MacroDroid and go to the Macros tab . Tap the + button in the lower right corner to create a new macro. Make sure to give your macro a descriptive name so you know what it is.
Now, tap the + button on the Triggers tab , select MacroDroid Specific and tap Empty Trigger to add it to the macro.
You can also tap on the search icon at the top and search for Empty Trigger directly.
Next, tap the + button on the Actions tab . Then, tap Files , select File Operation , and tap the Delete option in the prompt.
Click OK and MacroDroid will ask you to select the folder where you want to delete the file. Go to the folder where the screenshot is saved. This is usually the Screenshots folder in DCIM unless you have changed that folder.
Click Use This Folder and confirm by clicking Allow .
Now, you will see a Select File Type prompt asking you to choose the type of files you want to delete. Select Images and press OK .
In the next prompt, make sure Block next actions until complete is selected and press OK . This will add the Delete Images action to your macro.
Again, click the + button on the Actions tab on the macro page. Click Notification and select Display Notification .
Here, enter a title for the notification in the text field below Title . Similarly, enter the notification text that appears along with the notification title in the text field below Notification text .
Now, we need to add a button to the MacroDroid notification so we can dismiss individual notifications without deleting them all.
Click the Add Action Button button at the bottom and enter Dismiss or Clear , whichever you prefer, in the Label text field . Then, check the Clear notification on press checkbox .
Finally, press OK and click the save icon to save the macro.
Once done, we need to create a shortcut to run that macro. From the Macros tab , press and hold the macro you just created, then select Create home screen shortcut .
When prompted, change the icon if you want, or tap OK to continue with the MacroDroid icon. Finally, tap Add and MacroDroid will add a shortcut to the macro on your Android phone's home screen.
With the macro added, whenever you want to delete the screenshot from the gallery, tap the macro. The macro will then delete the screenshot and display a message when it's done.
Use MacroDroid to delete screenshots automatically
If you don't want to have to run the macro manually to delete your screenshots, you can set the macro to run automatically. This article will show you how to run the macro on a specific day of the week, but you can set it up to your own preferences.
To do this, first create a macro without setting up a trigger using the instructions above. Once done, click the + button on the Triggers tab , click Date/Time and select Day of the Week/Month .
Now, you will be prompted to choose between Day of the Week and Day of the Week .
Tap Day of the Week , then tap the drop-down menu at the top and select the day you want. Similarly, set the time for the trigger and tap OK .
Finally, tap the check mark in the bottom right corner to save the macro.
Once you have created and enabled your macro, make sure MacroDroid is running and it will automatically run the macro at the date and time you specify. You will see a notification when the macro runs and delete the screenshot.
Creating a macro takes a bit of work up front, but once it’s done, it ensures your phone’s screenshot library isn’t cluttered with screenshots. Running the macro manually allows you to control when screenshots are deleted. That way, even if you forget to save an important screenshot, your macro won’t delete it on a scheduled schedule.
