Many people wonder if the water that flows out during the use of air conditioning is clean and can be reused? Please find out in the article below.
1. Where does the air conditioner water come from?
Air conditioners emit water as a result of condensation of water vapor from the air inside the room. When the refrigerant in the air conditioner reaches a temperature ranging from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius, it will help cool the air as it passes through.
Water vapor in the air condenses on the surface of the evaporator to form water and falls into a tray below, then is led out through a water pipe.
When the room has reached the desired cool temperature after turning on the air conditioner, the air will become drier, a certain amount of water vapor will accumulate and create water drops that will fall down and flow out through the pipe.

2. Is air conditioner wastewater clean?
The water flowing from the air conditioner can initially be considered pure. Even the initial water flowing out can be boiled for drinking if factors such as air filters and water pipe hygiene are properly cleaned and maintained.
However, over time, it is inevitable that copper pipes and pipes will accumulate dirt and moss. Therefore, the process of leading water out can be affected by external factors, leading to poor water quality.
3. What can air conditioner water be used for?
Normally, an air conditioner when operating can produce about 1 to 2 liters of water per hour depending on the size and capacity of the machine, weather conditions and humidity in the air.
The water flowing out of the air conditioner can be used for many purposes such as watering plants, washing cars... but should not be used for drinking, cooking or other household chores.
4. Is it good for air conditioners to discharge a lot of water?
When the air conditioner is running, some water will be discharged, but it usually won't be much. If your air conditioner is discharging a larger amount of water than usual, there may be a problem with the machine.
Some main reasons why air conditioners leak water continuously and a lot:
- Due to clogged drain pipes due to lack of regular cleaning.
- Due to the drain tray being broken or too old after a period of use, water leaks from the air conditioner.
- Due to the lack or lack of gas in the air conditioner, the evaporator cannot maintain the required temperature, causing water from the evaporator to melt and leak into the drain tray.
- Due to clogged, cracked or broken drain pan, often occurs in old air conditioners.
- The condenser is clogged with dirt and debris, which obstructs the cool air flow and causes blockage.
- Due to frozen evaporator coil.
- The condenser has problems due to too much dirt.
