How to use Google Photos for Android

1. How to search for photos quickly

When you open the Google Photos app, you'll see all the photos and videos on your device. If you turn on backup and sync "backup & sync" everything is synced to your Google Photos library.

Search for pictures just taken

Open the Google Photos app
On the top left side, tap the icon > select Photos
You will find the photo you just took above. Scroll down to see more photos.

Find photos of memories in the past

You have multiple pictures on your phone or tablet. Try to remember something about that photo, like a dog, the beach or whatever.
In the bottom right, tap the icon (If you don't see it, open the menu> tap Photos)
In the box at the top, type anything related to the photo like "beach", "dog" or "Paris"> tap Enter .

2. Edit photos with filters

Open the Google Photos app
Tap the photo you want to edit> select the pencil icon
At the bottom, touch the photo icon
Scroll through the filters on the bottom. Choose any filter that suits your photo

Tip: adjust the strength of the filter using the controls below

In the lower right, touch the tick icon
In the upper right, tap Save

3. Share photos with others

Don't be afraid to share your edited image with everyone. You can share a photo with anyone, even if they're not using Google Photos. For Android devices, the edited photo will appear on the screen. 4. Delete blurry photos or unwanted photos

Open the Google Photo app
In the top right, select the menu icon > select Photos. You can view 3 photos you just took.
Open each photo to decide which one works best. Done, return to the screen Photos
Touch and hold the photo to move it to the trash. Touch other images to move to the trash.

If you open backups and sync, anything you delete goes to the trash when using Google Photos, so you can restore them.

Recover an image

In the upper left, tap the menu icon > select Trash. Anything you see in the trash can be recovered, but they'll be permanently deleted in 60 days.

5. Backup photos from mobile device

Save mobile photos and videos to Google Photos gallery. It includes the pictures taken from the camera or stored on the phone.

What is Backup and Sync?

Backup service: photos and videos on your device will be saved in your Google Photos library, including future photos taken.
One Google Photos feature: Google Photo is separate from Google+ (and you don't need a Google+ account to use this app).
Safe storage: photos and videos backed up from your device are safe and personal unless you want to share them with everyone.
Sync: change the way pictures and videos are created, such as deleting or editing photos.

6. Turn off storage and sync

Keep in mind that changing storage and syncing affects all apps that use the back up & sync feature , like Google Drive .
